At CMS, we know how important it is that your child be able to read well. That is why we have many opportunities for your child to improve his/her fluency (speed at which he/she reads) and comprehension (how well he/she understands what was read). You can help by requiring your child to read at home. If you have a reluctant reader, you can make it more fun by reading together. You can read a page and then your child can read a page. After reading a page or two, stop and talk about what is happening in the story. Just like anything else, your child gets better at reading by reading. Make reading a family tradition and watch your child's grades improve.
If you have any questions about the reading programs at our school, feel free to contact myself or your child's teachers.
